Natural remedy for your body, mind and soul

Everything you need to know about hemp, its properties and benefits.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis. A safe and non-addictive substance, CBD is one of over a hundred "phytocannabinoids," which are unique to cannabis and give the plant its robust therapeutic profile.

CBD is closely related to other important medicinally active phytocannabinoid: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that causes the high for which cannabis is famous.

Both CBD and THC have significant therapeutic attributes. But unlike THC, CBD does not make a person feel "high" or intoxicated. This is because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body.

History

The origins of CBD go back to 1940 in the chemistry department of the University of Illinois in the United States of America: There, a team of researchers managed to isolate it, although they did not get to glimpse the multiple therapeutic uses of this molecule.

Although the discovery was in the 1940s, it would not be until the early 1960s in Israel that a team of scientists, who were dedicated to investigating the therapeutic properties of cannabis, "rediscovered" it along with the other great cannabinoid in cannabis: THC (tetrahydrocannabidiol).
